What a state we live in:

much needed federal assistance in order to punish South Carolinians, and has
allowed his personal life to distract from achieving the
progress we desperately need.
- We have a Republican-led legislature playing
politics by refusing to remove Governor Sanford from office out of
fear of promoting the political stature of expected Republican
Gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Governor Andre Bauer.

Drake, a certified LOBBYIST, wants to run for Governor. Mr.
Drake has represented some of the most harmful special interest
groups in our state, including polluters, cigarette companies,
payday lenders and many others.

Dwight Drake announced his candidacy for Governor of South Carolina.
He wants South Carolina Democrats to make him the party’s nominee
for Governor in 2010. Since his announcement, many South Carolina
Democrats have been asking the same question; “How can we move
forward as a state if we keep electing officials who don’t work
for the people?”
Dwight Drake has been a lawyer-lobbyist in Columbia for over 26
years. He is well known as the go-to-guy for special interest groups
with deep pockets who don’t have the people’s best interest at
heart.
POLLUTION: His clients include
hazardous waste companies that
he supported to allow the dumping
of hazardous waste near the shores of South Carolina waterways.
GAMBLING: Mr.
Drake has worked for organized gambling, including the video
poker industry and casino cruise
boats.
BIG TOBACCO: As a paid agent for
Altria, he has repeatedly and successfully blocked
health care reform for the past 10 years.
PAYDAY LENDERS: Mr. Drake has
taken huge amounts of money from the disgraceful predatory
payday lenders and worked to block
real reform in the industry.
As you
can see, Dwight Drake made his money by lobbying for some of the
most harmful special interest groups in our state and nation. He
sold out the people of South Carolina and now he wants to be our
Governor.
